George's Brewery

After years of working as a brick layer Mark Mawson established the brewery in 2010. In honour of his late father who had introduced him into Real Ale; he named the brewery George’s Brewery; and set out to brew distinctive craft real ales in Great Wakering, Essex. The brewery presently has a range of between nine and twelve ales marketed under the names George’s Brewery and Hopmonster beers. The Hopmonster beers characterise the ‘alter ego’ of Mark and are therefore more hop forward and aggressive on the pallet. Which compliment the more traditional styles found in the George’s range.

Gruff Brewery

Created by keen homebrewer Gareth in 2023, Gruff Brewery is named after his baseball nickname and reflects long friendships and a strong sense of local community. The obvious addition of 'Billy Goat' to Gareth's nickname by his teammates provided the basis of the logo. Starting on a 65-litre plant, plans were quickly drawn up to acquire a 200-litre kit to increase production. Local pubs, clubs and beer festivals are supplied with an initial range of four core beers.

Leigh on Sea Brewery

Established in 2017 to produce vegan-friendly beer, which is unfiltered, unpasteurised and unfined (except for Renown). Initially brewing on a one-barrel kit, it rapidly progressed to a 10-barrel plant. Many of the names of the beers are based on Leigh’s maritime heritage, which is also reflected in the branding, by a local artist and graphic designer. The brewery has a taproom, and it has now opened a pub, Legra Tap & Kitchen.

Little Earth Project

Mill Green Brewery started in 2008, becoming Little Earth Project in 2016. Built on an old stable site, using local wood, reclaimed bricks, sheep wool and lime plaster. It has its own borehole, brewing liquor is heated using bio and solar power, and its 3,000-litre storage is heated by solar panels, and a wood boiler. It creates innovative beers and sours. Most use local ingredients, and age in old wine barrels. About half is KeyKeg, the rest is bottled, with some cask available.

Mauldons Brewery

Mauldons started brewing in Sudbury in 1795, was taken over by Greene King in the 1960s, and reopened by the Sims family in 2000. A new 30-barrel plant and brewery were built. After 19 years they retired and sold to local farming-based company, Heathpatch. It is planned that its barley and hops will be used in production. A new website was launched in 2020 (bottled and draught beer available online). Three pubs are owned, and over 200 outlets supplied.

Mr Bees Brewery

Mr Bees is based on the beautiful Suffolk Coast. All beers contain honey for conditioning and smoothness. Twelve regular cask beers are produced for local free houses and are also available in bottle-conditioned form from the brewery's online shop.

Old Felixstowe Brewing Co

Brewing began in 2018 in an outhouse in Old Felixstowe. Following a move to Kirton, the brewery was upgraded to a two-barrel plant in 2020. Seven core beers are produced, with seasonal specials. Beer is mostly available bottle-conditioned, but cask beers are produced for bars and events run by the brewery and upon request. Beers can be found at most local farmers markets and a selection of food and drink festivals.

Old Goat Brewery

The Old Goat brewery is located at the Stansfield Compasses. Crafting fine ales in small batches and offering them in a 16th-century farmhouse pub creates a unique experience for ale enthusiasts. Roy Elder, the owner and brewer, and partner Alexis Rudd, took over the Compasses to establish the brewery. Their vision is to breathe new life into the once-neglected Compasses and restore it as the heart of the community while serving as the flagship pub for the Old Goat brand.

Pumphouse Communty Brewery

Pumphouse is a community-owned brewery. Established in 2015, it uses a two-barrel plant and specialises in session beers with occasional one-off, experimental brews. Pubs, clubs, special events and festivals are supplied within a 20-mile radius as well as its Green Man brewery tap outlet.

Roughacre Brewery

Established in 2018 by a passionate home brewer in Castle Camps, East Cambridgeshire. The brewery moved to Clare in West Suffolk in 2021. The brewery is run by a two-person team and now has a taproom and shop. It brews high quality, fine ales of character which range from classic amber ales and golden IPA, to Belgian-style Abbey Ale, and a dark coffee porter. The beers are now available in several local pubs.

SG Brewing Co

SG entered the craft beer market with a range of exciting and tasty beverage solutions and supporting merchandise for both trade and consumers to enjoy.  After seeing a huge shift in the expectations of drinkers, it was important that the SG brand and range of products represent the ever evolving changes in behaviour and demand.

Wibblers

Established in 2007, Wibblers expanded to a 20-barrel plant, and in 2016 moved to new premises, housed in a medieval barn in Southminster with its own taproom. Craft beers and ciders are now produced, as well as seasonal specials. Numerous outlets are supplied throughout East Anglia in addition to exporting to Europe. It runs an annual Flocculation brewing event each August and hosts 'Be the Brewer' and brewery experience days plus bespoke events for individuals, groups and the local community.
